About the role
The design team at Mainstay builds tools that help businesses buy, manage, and sell homes more efficiently. We focus on simplifying complex processes through intuitive, well crafted experiences. Working closely with product, engineering, and data teams, we turn industry challenges into user friendly solutions that make a real impact.
As a Staff Product Designer, you will begin by owning design work in one product area, building deep expertise and driving high quality outcomes. Over time, your initiatives will influence and shape experiences across multiple product areas, improving usability, efficiency, and business impact at scale. You will partner with product managers, engineers, and leadership to turn vision into experiences that scale. You will also help define how AI and emerging technologies are applied responsibly and creatively in our product.
You're expected to:
Own and lead design strategy for core product workstreams, from early discovery through to delivery.
Mentor and support other designers, raising the quality bar across the team.
Collaborate with PMs, engineers, data teams and operations to translate business opportunities into user centered designs.
Conduct user research and synthesize insights to inform strategic product decisions.
Develop high fidelity prototypes to explore and validate new features, workflows, and interactions.
Contribute to and extend our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
Stay curious about AI and emerging technologies, applying them thoughtfully to enhance user experience and workflow efficiency.
What we're looking for
8+ years of relevant work experience
Exceptional design craft. Your work is thoughtful, polished, and sets a high bar for quality.
Strong product thinking. You approach design holistically, considering both user needs and business impact.
Enterprise experience. You have worked on at least one complex B2B or enterprise product and understand the challenges of designing for enterprise users.
Collaborative mindset. You thrive in cross-functional teams, communicate effectively, and advocate for users at every stage.
Comfort with ambiguity. You can navigate uncertainty, define problems, and drive solutions with minimal guidance.
Bonus points if you have
Prior experience in real estate, finance, or other complex industries.
Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design field, or similar work experience.
